Most importantly

When I think of the most important thing to do with regards to fitness, it's difficult to choose.  I think in the face of aging and fitness, the most important thing is preventative care.  Checking your breast, getting a pap and mammograms. 

You may wonder how this relates to fitness. 

Well, when i think of fitness, i think of inside the body and outside the body.  Health and fitness go in hand and you have to think of the whole package.  I mean, what good is a great looking shell if your insides are falling apart? 

Since we can't see inside our own bodies, we have to rely on the technology and expertise of the doctors, i suppose.  That's what makes it so scary, for me anyway.  Although i'm pretty sure there will be an app coming out in the near future where you can do your own x-rays and whatnot.  Then we'll all know exactly what's going on.  Kidding, of course ~ um, kinda...

If you've got girlfriends or sisters or mothers or grandmothers, i think it's a good idea to remind and support each other to take care of the preventative things so that we all can stay in tiptop shape for as long as possible.  Some people put it off because it's scary and they don't want to know what's going on because they figure ignorance is bliss.

NEWSFLASH:   Ignorance isn't bliss, it's just ignorance. 

When i feel apathetic about taking care of these things, i think of my kids because they are really the most important things and to them i am the most important thing.  That usually kicks my butt in gear to do what I'm avoiding because i don't and won't let them down.  I'd venture to say that most moms feel the same way.  Don't you?

So, quit being scared and quit putting these things off.  Do what is important for who is important and be well...
