Tone up shoes

This week for Fit Friday, I'm gonna talk a little about shoes on the market today which claim to tone your legs and firm your tush.  We've all seen the commercials, I'm sure, of all the ladies with their short shorts and perfect derrieres ~ right?  Pretty effective marketing if you ask me.  I mean, who wouldn't want an ass like that?

So, we've got the front runners of tone up shoes: Skechers Shape Ups and Reebok Easy Tones.  Shape ups are more of a rocker design and the Easy Tones are more of ball technology on the bottom.  Do they work? I don't know.  I've had shape ups for about a year now and I haven't seen a difference that I can attribute to the shoe.  In fact, my ankles feel wobbly in them and I'll be getting a new shoe soon.

Here's a quote from Nike and I couldn't agree more:
"Nike knows you have to train to tone," said Nike spokesman Derek Kent. "There are no shortcuts. It's about combining exercising with proven technology to get real results. We want to serve the consumer every way she trains. We won't ask her to compromise on performance, stability and flexibility."

My next shoe will be Nike.

Looks like I fell victim to the easy fix!  It happens to the best of us, I suppose.  But, if you want a rockin' tush then you have to do the work.  So, this Fit Friday is going to be about the dumbbell squat.

Dumbbell squats work your butt and thighs.  Do these squats today!  And don't forget to warm your body up first.  It doesn't take much time to do these, they are effective and you can do them right with your kids!
